ABOUT OUR CHURCH

Thank you for stopping by to visit us on the world wide web! A million places want you to visit their page and yet we have the privilege for you to spend some moments here. Our church exists to worship Jehovah, the Creator of all that is. He has revealed himself to us in creation, he has revealed himself through the infallible word of God, and he has revealed himself to us in Jesus, through the Incarnation. That's when God took on flesh and became a baby, born to the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem. Another purpose of our church is to serve our community. We do that by various ministry efforts throughout the year. It may be our people working to help the victims of Hurricane Helene, having Vacation Bible School to minister to the youth of our community, Having a Junior Church and Van outreach, hosting, praying for, and financially supporting missionaries in various countries around the world and much more. We are here on Sheffield Road and on the web for “such a time as this.” The Lord has sent us on a mission. As Moses said to his father-in-law, “We are journeying unto the place of which the Lord said, I will give it you: Come thou with us, and we will do thee good.” If you entrust your family’s spiritual care to our church we want to make promises to you:

1. We will pray faithfully for your family.

2. We will preach and teach the whole counsel of God as best we understand it.

3. We will love you and treat you like a part of God's forever family.

Online or in person, we hope to see you soon!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Father: We believe the Father is the source of all matter and spirit. With the Son and the Holy Spirit, He created man in His own image. As a Father, He loves all men and seeks to draw them to Himself by His provision for redemption.

The Son: We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He lived a perfect and sinless life, offering forgiveness of sin, healing of bodies and an example for all who follow Him. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified and died as the atonement for the transgression of all mankind. He rose from the dead on the third day and ascended into heaven where He intercedes for us at His Father's right hand. He will return to earth to judge all humanity at the last day.

The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son and is one with them. The Holy Spirit administers grace to man and is the agent of conviction of sin, righteousness and judgement. The Spirit, also, is the Christian's comforter, guide, preserver, and enables the Christian to live a life of holiness.

The Sufficiency of Scriptures: The Bible is the Holy Word of God. It is inspired by God and is, in its original manuscript, inerrant and infallible. It contains all that is necessary for man's salvation. No man may require anything outside the scripture for redemption nor may they allow anything less.

Sin: We believe that man was created innocent and in perfect harmony to God's will. Through Adam's yielding to the temptation of Satan, mankind rebelled against God's will, and sin entered the human race. Sin is of two natures: personal sin, the acts of rebellion taken in a voluntary violation of a known law of God by a morally responsible person; and, original sin, the inherited nature which resulted from the sin of Adam and passed to his descendants without their will nor their knowledge. We believe that the twofold nature of sin necessitates a twofold redemption; first, of forgiveness for personal sins and, subsequently, the cleansing of original sin.

The Atonement: We believe that Christ's offering of himself to death on the cross is God's only acceptable sacrifice for sin and that both the forgiveness of personal sin and the cleansing from original sin is possible through His death and resurrection. This atonement is provided to those who have not reached the consciousness of sin or who are mentally incompetent. It is effective to those who have reached the age and condition of accountability only as they repent and exercise faith in Christ.

Repentance: We believe that when a person truly is repentant of sin and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, they are immediately justified in the sight of God and their past sins no longer condemn them. This is not the result of any good works or personal righteousness but solely through the grace of God.

We believe that concurrent with justification, a person is regenerated or born-again through the work of the Holy Spirit. In regeneration a person becomes a new creation with a heart freed from the power and dominion of sin and has the capacity for love of God and obedience to his commands, living a life free from willful sin and rebellion.

Sin After Regeneration: We believe that a Christian who has accepted Christ's offer of salvation and, by faith, has experienced regeneration retains his ability to exercise his free will and return to sin. There is no state of grace from which it is impossible to fall. We believe that such a person enters again into condemnation but, by the grace of God, may by faith and repentance find forgiveness and restoration.

Christian Holiness and Entire Sanctification: We believe that holiness is the standard of God. He commands, “Be ye holy, for I am holy.” Holiness as a life style and a way of life is present in the life of every believer, yet there remains in the heart of a believer a nature of sin which is termed the “old man.” It is not a product of willful sin and, hence, is not a matter for forgiveness but cleansing.

We believe that Entire Sanctification is that act of God, subsequent to regeneration, by which believers are freed from original sin or depravity and are filled with love. The Holy Spirit indwells the heart and produces a state referred to as Christian Perfection in which the very nature of the sanctified person is conformed to God's nature.

This Christian Perfection is not a perfection of mental capacity, nor a perfection of performance. In the weakness of humanity, a mistake may be made in judgment or action, but, in Christian Perfection, the mistake will not be made with the intent to hurt or by any impure motive.

Entire Sanctification is not synonymous with maturity. A pure heart is obtained instantly, but maturity results from a growth in grace.
